Municipal Courts in Ste. Genevieve County

Ste. Genevieve County has two cities with municipal courts that handle city ordinance traffic violations independently from the circuit court. If your citation came from a city officer inside one of these cities, your case is likely in the municipal court rather than with the Circuit Clerk.

Ste. Genevieve Municipal Court handles traffic and ordinance violations issued within the city of Ste. Genevieve. The city is the county seat and the largest community in the county. City officers issue tickets that go to this court. Contact Ste. Genevieve City Hall for court schedules, payment procedures, and information about options for contesting a citation. The municipal court handles city matters separately from the 24th Circuit.

Bloomsdale Municipal Court serves the small community of Bloomsdale. If you were ticketed by Bloomsdale Police inside city limits, your citation goes to the Bloomsdale Municipal Court. Contact Bloomsdale City Hall for court dates, payment options, and procedures for handling your citation.

Not sure which court has your case? Check Case.net or call the Circuit Clerk's office. For city ordinance citations not in Case.net, contact the relevant city court directly.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop C

MSHP Troop C covers Ste. Genevieve County. Troopers patrol US-61 and other state routes that run through the county. Tickets from state troopers are filed in the Ste. Genevieve County Circuit Court in Ste. Genevieve. If a trooper stopped you on a state highway or county road outside city limits, your case goes to the Circuit Clerk, not a municipal court.

You can check the status of a trooper-issued citation on Case.net once it has been entered in the system, usually within a few days of the stop. For direct questions about a specific citation from a state trooper, contact MSHP Troop C. The troop covers this part of southeastern Missouri from its headquarters in Weldon Spring.

Traffic Fines and the Missouri Points System

Missouri tracks all traffic convictions through a point system managed by the Department of Revenue. Under RSMo 302.302, minor moving violations add 2 points to your record. More serious violations add more. Accumulate enough points and the DOR takes action on your license.

For Ste. Genevieve County drivers, this means every conviction matters beyond just the fine you pay. Reach 8 or more points in 18 months and the DOR issues a suspension. Hit 12 in 12 months or 18 in 24 months and revocation follows. Drivers who want to reduce their point count may be able to complete a driver improvement program under RSMo 302.309. Not every offense qualifies, so check with the court or an attorney first.

You can order a copy of your Missouri driving record at dor.mo.gov. Knowing your current total before a court date helps you decide how hard to fight a ticket.

Paying Traffic Fines in Ste. Genevieve County

Online payment is available for eligible circuit court fines through Case.net and through CourtMoney. In-person payment is accepted at the Circuit Clerk's office in Ste. Genevieve during regular business hours. For city ordinance tickets, contact the appropriate municipal court for payment options. Some city courts have their own online payment systems.

If you cannot pay the full fine at once, ask the Circuit Clerk about a payment plan. Failing to pay by the due date or missing a court appearance can result in added fees, a hold on your Missouri license, or an arrest warrant for failure to appear. If you already missed a court date, do not delay. Contact the clerk or an attorney as quickly as possible to resolve the matter before consequences grow.

The Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff's Office can tell you whether there is an active warrant in your name. For questions about citations from state troopers, contact MSHP Troop C.
